Inside our October RE@Agile Primer class
Our RE@Agile Primer class ran on 26 and 27 October at Setiawalk, Puchong. It was a public class, face to face, led by En. Amiruddin Jaafar Sidek. The course has one job: put requirements discipline inside a sprint cadence, without slowing delivery.
Two days is not long. So the class spent most of its time doing the work rather than hearing about it.
What the two days covered
The techniques are the ones agile teams reach for when a backlog item looks clear in refinement and turns vague once building starts.
- Story mapping, to lay out a backlog along the user’s journey and see what belongs in the next release.
- Example mapping, to surface the rules and the awkward cases hiding inside a story before anyone writes code.
- Specification by example, so the examples the team agrees on double as acceptance tests.
- Splitting epics into stories without losing what the epic was meant to achieve.
- A Definition of Ready that keeps half-understood stories out of the sprint.
Each technique went from the slides to the flip chart to the participants’ own laptops. En. Amir moved between the tables, working through the examples with each person as their stories took shape.

Much of the time went to practice at the table: mapping a backlog, writing examples, and testing each story against the Definition of Ready. The course closes with a plan to run the techniques for one sprint on your own team, so you leave with a next step rather than a stack of notes.

Who led it
En. Amir has more than 35 years in ICT. He is CPRE certified under the IREB scheme and an HRD Corp accredited trainer.
He teaches as a practitioner. The questions he puts to a class are the ones delivery teams meet in refinement: who the story is really for, what happens at the edges, and how the team will know it is done.

Where RE@Agile Primer leads
The course suits product owners facing ambiguous backlog items, scrum masters who want to coach requirements quality, business analysts moving from waterfall to agile, and agile coaches building capability in their teams.
The official IREB exam is included in the fee. The certifying body is MSTB, under the IREB scheme, and the course is HRD Corp claimable.
The Primer is also an entry route to RE@Agile Practitioner. IREB accepts it for admission, so there is no CPRE Foundation step in between. The next Practitioner class runs on 2–3 December at Setiawalk, Puchong, for RM 5,500. Register for RE@Agile Practitioner.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in October, and for the questions that kept the examples honest.

Next RE@Agile Primer: 14–15 December
The next public class runs on 14–15 December 2026, face to face at Setiawalk, Puchong. The fee is RM 3,500 with the official exam included, and the course is HRD Corp claimable.
Claiming through HRD Corp? Register early so the grant application can go in before the course starts.
